Bobby Brown is continuing what is now a Thistle tradition-as guest musician and mentor of the musical apprentices. He will play for classes, hold group sessions of music enlightenment, and augment the evening dancing. A native Scot, he was raised in the musical tradition of Scotland, and was part of the legendary Stan Hamilton and the Flying Scotsmen Band, which played for the first Grandfather Gala to have live music.

Bobby Brown and the Scottish Accent Band, equally legendary, are constantly in demand across Canada, the United States, in their immensely successful tours of Scotland, and through numerous records, tapes and CDs. They will be heard in their incredible musicianship at this year's Grandfather Mountain Gala on Saturday the 8th of July. The band will be with us for the whole week again this year.

Music Education. Contact Thistle School if you interested in a fantastic music education. Scotia Dance and Music Publishers has provided music scholarships to study with this master musician. Please contact us for further information. Former scholarship recipients Peter Campbell, Jean Kershaw, Mara Beamish, Celia Wright, Jared Lee and Bruce Erwin will all attest to the incredible musicianship and teaching provided by Bobby Brown. "A life changing experience.." to quote one of the students. The music apprentices also get to play with Bobby and the band on Friday night at the Gala.
