Banner Elk, North Carolina.

Thistle School XXXII from 08 through 13 July 2012,
during the week preceding the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.

The Thistle School of Scottish Country Dance provides instruction in the correct techniques and manner of Scottish Country Dancing, the historic and contemporary social dancing of Scotland. Teachers at the school are certificated by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS).

Teachers at Thistle School this year will include many of our regulars -  Elizabeth Lee Barnes, Jeff Corrigan, David Gilliam, Valerie Hill, Mary McConnell, J'ina Middleton, Judy Robertson, Janet Lois Walker, Eilean Yates, Barbara Youngman.  In addition, Jimmy Hill from Scotland will return for his third time with us.

Pete Campbell, Elissa Hock and Arthur McNair, three of our former music apprentices, will play music for our classes and evening dancing.  They will be joined by Don Wood, an original member of Bobby Brown's Scottish Accent Band.

For the Friday night Gala, we'll dance to the music of Laird Brown and The Scottish Accent of Toronto.
