Who We Are

Céad Mile Fáilte!
Céad Mile Fáilte! (a hundred thousand welcomes) to our web site promoting Scottish (and other Celtic) music and dance.

Sheila Wilson  Sheila Wilson, a long time member of the Scottish Country Dance community in New York, died on 19 January 2015.  A memorial service for her will be held at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church on 14 February from 2:30 to 5:30 pm.  The church is located at 325 Park Avenue, NY, NY.

The service and reception will be on the 3rd floor of the St Bart's Community House, 109 East 50th Street.  Guards will be there to give directions.

Sheila was also active in the New York Caledonian Club and other Scottish organizations in NYC.  You may share memories of Sheila on her FaceBook memorial page.

Scotia Dance and Music began publishing with Milton Levy's book, The Tin Woodman and Other Dances. We offer a place for beginning composers and dance devisors to submit their work for critical comment by our Advisory Committees. In cooperation with Roy Hendrie, we published a CD that contains the music for 6 of the Tin Woodman dances. Subsequently, we published The Mohonk Dances by Robert "Bob" Houghton, a book that is geared for a class of brand new dancers.

We invite groups and organizations to support Scottish dance and music education by joining our web community and creating your own mini web site .

Please check our
Support page for more information about creating a web site on our serers. For instance , we host web sites for the Cameron Dancers, the Cole Family, Clann An Uabhairthe Scotia Dancers, St Joseph Catholic Church and School, and the Thistle School of Scottish Country Dance.

RSCDS activities in New York are listed on a page we have maintained since 1996. There is also a page that lists the weekly classes in the New York Metropolitan Area.

NOTE: The Scotia Dancers have moved from Madison Avenue Baptist Church to Metro Baptist Church, effective as of 1 January 2014.  Metro is located slightly west of 9th Avenue at 410 West 40th Street, New York, NY .
